img_5963In case no one has told you this recently, I’m on your team!

I have many interests that I’d love to explore and maybe share, however I have chosen to use my blog for its current purpose, because I have on many occasions needed a ‘me’. And by that I mean someone who can be honest about things, encouraging and sometimes provide a different perspective.

My hopes are that my presence here bridges the gap for at least one person, that they don’t feel so alone and isolated from the world, and that somehow they can connect the dots for themselves from what they read, because with the hustle and bustle of life it’s so easy to feel unworthy, lack purpose or feel unsuccessful.

The inspiration behind this post is a friend of mine who recently started his business in men’s fashion. He was posting regularly and then he stopped.
I checked with him about what was up and he gave me an excuse as we all do. I in that moment, chose to give him a little bit of a push by holding him accountable and giving a deadline for when he needs to post by. I gather from his response that he appreciated it.

Don’t we all need that sometimes? For someone to give a shit about what we’re doing, to notice that something has changed, to care about a project close to our hearts.
It makes such a difference to have someone pay a little attention and encourage you to stay on course.

You might not have that in your lives right now but you can. To have it, you need to be it. It’s one thing to have the desire and expectation from others but to experience it you must know what it is like to give it.

Look around you today and choose a person/s and check-up on them. If you no one springs to mind, what about that person that appears to have together? The chances are they don’t. Take an honest interest in their affairs be it business or personal and be of value. Be an example, most especially if there are none.

Oh and in case you’ve forgotten already, I’m on your team!

brand, easter, evolve, expectation, growth, happen, intention, Live, Now, passion, results

I hope you have enjoyed Easter and the bank holiday and returning to work hasn’t been the worse thing ever!

I spent my Saturday at a friends ‘Hen Do’, if I said it was eventful it’d be an understatement. Bubble football, sports day, cocktail making class, a stripp…, and lots of dancing. My body is still suffering from the aftermath of a fantastic time with great people, but anyway that isn’t the point of this post.

I have spent a lot of time thinking about my brand and the direction I would like to go in, and this is just to say, there will be some changes to follow in the next few months. I am hoping that you will still enjoy reading my posts but more so that you’ll be able to engage better.

Its necessary to evolve and I think I’m at that point of switching things up a little bit. We should always be learning and willing to grow, and I for one do not want to remain in the same place, doing the same thing and getting the same results.

If there are things that you want out of life, I hope you realise that there is no better time than now for you to make it happen. Everything you need to take you to the next stage in your life, you already posses.

Humor me, I did this the last week, I wrote down all of the assets that I have, be it physical or a quality and promised myself to make more use of them in any capacity. Do it! It might surprise you in knowing how much you have at your disposal. Anything you think might be useful no matter how small it is, write it down, then make a plan on how you’ll make better use of the things you have.

Whatever you do this week, do it with intention, passion and with an expectation.

Who likes to plan? I! Who wants things to go according to their plan? I! Whose plan almost never goes to plan? I!

Sometimes things don’t go according to plan and it sucks! You devote so much of your energy to making something work (Ok, slightly contradictory to my last post but don’t stone me just yet) and things still fall apart.

So what do you do? You stop *crickets, tumbleweed, saloon doors flap*.  You stop and take inventory of what’s taking place and re-strategise.

I cannot tell you how many people become stagnant and ‘fail’ because they’re stuck on their preferred means in which something is suppose to happen.  For example, I thought that by the time I was in my mid 20’s Ill have a thriving business, a plethora of accolades, my own immediate family (a girl can dream right?) HOWEVER, that is not what has happened *cues violins*.

If I gave up because those things had not yet occurred, you wouldn’t be reading this right now, you must keep going! Change the formula, experiment, pay attention to what is ACTUALLY working and do that.

Don’t go against the grain instead flow with the current, the fact that you re-strategised doesn’t mean that the aspiration will not be achieved, it’s simply a change of action plan.

“Progress is impossible without change, and those that cannot change their minds, cannot change anything”-George Bernard Shaw.

P.S The top three common things successful people say is important are: have passion, believe in yourself and commit.

See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.

See no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil.

I made a decision before I started blogging that I would not deviate much from my objective but in this case, I think it is necessary.

I would be the first person to admit that over the past few months, I have actively chosen to ignore the recent happenings in the world, not because I don’t care but because I care too much. It is heart wrenching to watch the terrible happenings over and over and over again without the immediate ability to affect the situation.

If you’ve read my previous posts you’ll know I am strong believer in monitoring what you pay attention to and what you feed your eyes and ears with, as it has the power to shape your life- And with this I showed apathy to these situations.

However, I am at a point where it is no longer acceptable to be voiceless.

It seems that it is only when things of this magnitude happen that we believe in humanity and fight for its preservation. Orchestrating protests and rally’s, making grand statements on our social networks in order to evoke action from our government or others, whilst ignoring our neighbour that has little to eat, being impetuous with our fellow citizens and making a mockery of human life by spewing out hate through our actions or lack thereof…I hope it’s clear where I am going with this.

If it is change you really want to see, start with what is on your doorstep. Now by no means am I saying don’t make a stand for those suffering in other parts of the world, but what I am trying to reiterate is to also make a difference where it will surely count, in your homes, in your communities and in the lives of those you come into contact with.

I sometimes forget that it requires only one person to command change in any environment, just look at Gandhi, Mother Theresa, Bush, Nelson Mandela, and Hitler. They were all forces in the own right, that commanded the attention and action of others and the world at large. Granted, some of these people abused their power but it does not negate the effect that they had on thousands and millions of people. Why can’t it be you for the better?

Let it not be until we hear about that old man at number 46 who died in his home alone without love or care before we feel impassioned for those in close proximity. Every little action counts, you never know how a small conversation with a beggar may inspire them to do better for themselves or the disadvantaged person you assisted in crossing the road, who has now decided against suicide because you showed them kindness.

I remember a few weeks back (and I share this only for the benefit of this topic as personally, I believe such things should be done in silence) a friend and I walked past this pub and there was a lady crying her eyes out just on the corner. I am certain that a number of people had walked past her already. We decided to stop and ask her what was wrong and she proceeded to tell us the dire circumstances of her friend that was in hospital, who happened to be my age. That saddened me. We did what we were led to and bid her farewell and well wishes. Now I may never see this person again but I hope that in that moment, it provided her with some relief to know that she was not completely alone and that someone cared.

Love, kindness, empathy…always

Ps. Look look look!  Short post. Oh and I know this is lame but evil backwards is live so erm yeah. That has no bearing on anything :s so seeyoubye!
