I came across this post two days ago by Monika A Mazur, and felt attacked by it.

Can’t complain about results you don’t have for work you didn’t do.

It convicted me, and reiterated that doing the work isn’t a part-time gig.

Enjoy your weekend, but next week, we’re going to be on job!

WDYWM?! Episode 4–Shipped and Left Behind

We all have events that have changed the course of our lives and who we are today. I share my experience on being uprooted from everything I knew, to start a life at a private boarding school in what was then a foreign country to me.

Bursting at the Seams.

Man, the pressure. The pressure to be and do all is immense.  I have been on the go for the past couple of months, and I was afraid of a burnout. To avoid that, I gave myself an impromptu annual leave from creating last week. The weekend rolls around, quickly might I add, and a recollection of …

Before Beyoncé was Beyoncé

You think Beyoncé is who she is because she is simply gifted? Hardly. In fact she works HARD to create and build all she has.

I’d love to tell you that all the Greats were born great (so that you and I can feel better about ourselves) but they’re not, well not entirely.

What they are able to do that many others do not, is to harness a talent or skill to its fullest by practicing repeatedly over long periods of time to get better, smarter and faster. To do this requires plenty of endurance, creativity, effort, patience…the list is endless.

Here’s my question to those of you pining over being really shitty at something; are you prepared to do something for a long time without ceasing or immediate gratification to become better? Or, will you give up shortly afterwards because you’re not seeing your desired results? Both choices have consequences and you ultimately contribute to those outcomes by what you do.

Trust me, I am a part of the instant gratification gang, I want it now, but I have learnt that some things, especially wonderful things, take time.

I do not like the fat that has “somehow” attached itself to my midriff (how dare it?!), but sit there and complain about it? Nope! The gym and I are slowly but surely becoming bum chums and I know that in time, I will see good results.

The decision is yours to make about how you affect what happens next- take the road less travelled.

Apply yourself.

Drop the dead weight

If you’re struggling to fly, drop that dead weight.

We’re aware that the things we surround ourselves with and the environment we live in can greatly affect the way we function.

For some time now I had been feeling stagnant and lumbered with other people’s problems. You might say it’s a choice to take on OPP, however, in some cases you ingest their plight subconsciously, it’s why I categorically avoid the news.

That’s one aspect, the other is being in an environment that does not cultivate the person and lifestyle you want to have/be and lastly holding onto that person, thing or past event. All the above can stifle and hold you back in more ways than you realise, thankfully there is a way out.

The solution? Well that’s for you to figure out…just kidding (although you do have a huge part to play in it). It will require you making some tough decisions/actions and sticking it through until desired results are met.

Maybe that’s something you’re dealing with now, frustration, despair, repetitiveness, and you’re in dire need of change. The best and most important place to start is with yourself. You have control over your life and the way you chose to live it, so it makes sense that you will also be the very same person to bring about imminent change.

I promise that once you begin to face these issues head on and eliminate them one by one, the quality of your life will be enhanced.

What does that mean in theory? It means, going for that role that you think is out of reach, studying your finances to see what your spending habits are like and where you’re going wrong, letting go of that person who doesn’t edify your life and have your best interests at heart, adjusting the attitude you have towards some things and checking yourself, facing the reality that you have made some bad choices and committing yourself to making better ones, learning to be at peace regardless of the circumstance, changing your language and circles, definitively, you know the areas that require your undivided attention. Spend some of your energy on changing, removing yourself from the situation and or letting go of those things.

I must emphasis, as exciting or not exciting this journey may be, there WILL be times that you’ll falter, go off track, feel like giving up, be close to the edge, I implore you not to. Ride out the wave of those feelings, push through anyway, pick up from where you left off, you will soon start to see the results you want in your life, it just may not happen overnight.

Honestly, truthfully, sincerely, take care of yourself, it’s the way to not only be of good service to yourself, but to others also.

Complaining gets you results!

I have a confession to make. For the past three weeks I have been a champion complainer. Almost every single morning, I have bitched and moaned about this ‘thing’. What is the ‘thing’? Working, but more specifically the commute to work.

After not having a job for 5 months by choice, going back to work (also by choice, well more so necessity) has tested my entire existence. There were days where I woke up and thought, this is the day, this is the day, I am going to run into oncoming traffic and end it all.

Okay okay, that was a bit dramatic, but it would be dishonest to pretend that everything is all rosy when you bliming well know it’s not.

My first thought was I am being punished, this HAS to be the reason why all these ill-fated scenarios keep occurring. Alright, maybe punish is the wrong word, teaching me lesson.

The lesson being, do what you’re supposed to do, when you’re supposed to do it, otherwise you’d end up doing what you don’t want to do-like me ggrrrr.

In a weird turn of events, it’s placed the fire back up my butt to get out there and do more to get to where I want to be, a catalyst even.

I write this to stress that as much as your life may not reflect what you want, it is up to YOU to transform things around. I can whinge until I am purple in the face, if I don’t adjust what I do, then that is where I will remain. I guess that is what pains me the most, because I know wherever I am in life, was and is to a large degree, my doing.

It boils down to this, if you don’t like something, change it, if you want something, go for it, if you believe in something, act like it.

I’ll never forget when I had written a long message to my virtual mentor about doing something I had been afraid to do and all she wrote back was just do it. I remember being incredibly irritated by the response yet it was fact. You just have to do it, change it, remove it, test it, try it, it’s all in the action baby! (Said in a strong NY accent, a British one would just sound weird).

brand, easter, evolve, expectation, growth, happen, intention, Live, Now, passion, results

I hope you have enjoyed Easter and the bank holiday and returning to work hasn’t been the worse thing ever!

I spent my Saturday at a friends ‘Hen Do’, if I said it was eventful it’d be an understatement. Bubble football, sports day, cocktail making class, a stripp…, and lots of dancing. My body is still suffering from the aftermath of a fantastic time with great people, but anyway that isn’t the point of this post.

I have spent a lot of time thinking about my brand and the direction I would like to go in, and this is just to say, there will be some changes to follow in the next few months. I am hoping that you will still enjoy reading my posts but more so that you’ll be able to engage better.

Its necessary to evolve and I think I’m at that point of switching things up a little bit. We should always be learning and willing to grow, and I for one do not want to remain in the same place, doing the same thing and getting the same results.

If there are things that you want out of life, I hope you realise that there is no better time than now for you to make it happen. Everything you need to take you to the next stage in your life, you already posses.

Humor me, I did this the last week, I wrote down all of the assets that I have, be it physical or a quality and promised myself to make more use of them in any capacity. Do it! It might surprise you in knowing how much you have at your disposal. Anything you think might be useful no matter how small it is, write it down, then make a plan on how you’ll make better use of the things you have.

Whatever you do this week, do it with intention, passion and with an expectation.
